Waverly NY Man Allegedly Steals Towanda Car, Plows into Two Police Vehicles

A Waverly, NY man is facing charges after he allegedly stole a car in Towanda before crashing into two police cars on Saturday, June 4th.

According to police, they were told via phone on Saturday evening that Steven M. Stubbs, 43, had allegedly stolen a car from Towanda’s Main Street. Police were able to find Stubbs in the alleged stolen vehicle and closed in on him. According to police, Stubbs then drove the alleged vehicle into two police cars. Police used a taser in order to subdue Stubbs so that he could be arrested.

Stubbs faces the following charges: Two counts of felony aggravated assault in the 2nd degree; felony Fleeing or Attempting to Elude Officer in the 3rd degree; felony Theft By Unlaw Taking-Movable Prop in the 3rd degree; felony Receiving Stolen Property in the 3rd degree; misdemeanor Unauth Use Motor/Other Vehicles in the 2nd degree; misdemeanor Resist Arrest/Other Law Enforce in the 2nd degree; misdemeanor DUI: Highest Rte of Alc (BAC .16+) 1st Off; misdemeanor DUI: Gen Imp/Inc of Driving Safely – 1st Off; two counts of summary Reckless Driving; and summary Drg Lic Sus/Rev Purs to Sec 3802/1547B1. The charges were filed in Magisterial District Court 42-3-03.

After Stubb’s arraignment in front of Magisterial District Judge Timothy M. Clark on Sunday, June 5th, he was placed in Bradford County Prison. He was able to meet his $75,000 bail. Please remember that the accused is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
