Frank Levindoski defeated Tom Smith for Tioga County Sheriff in the GOP Primary.  The winner will go on to the general election to face the winner of the Democratic Primary, which, as of right now is listed as 820 write-in votes.

Levindoski is a 21-year veteran of the Wellsboro Police Department.  The winner in the November election will be replacing current Tioga County Sheriff, Tom Young, a 27-year veteran of the Wellsboro Police Department.

Tom Smith listed this as one of his last closing arguments leading up to the election:
“Please remember to vote for the only candidate with experience in the sheriff’s office. Some can only talk about training and certificates with no experience. I can talk about 17 years of experience under three consecutive sheriffs. The only candidate that is employed in the sheriff’s office. The candidate that is endorsed by the Republican Party. Have a great day everyone and make the most of it.”

Here are the results of the GOP Primary:

  • Frank Levindoski (R) 2583 – 58.91%
  • Tom Smith (R) 1797 – 40.98%
