The name of the man who was killed in a hit-and-run in Woodward Township on Wednesday, March 1st, has been released.

According to the Lycoming County Coroner’s Office, 54-year-old Dennis Lee Burley of Muncy died at the scene after a vehicle hit him on the 4100 block of Route 220 South. Burley suffered numerous blunt force trauma injuries.

The incident occurred at approximately 11:37 p.m. Police think the vehicle that hit Burley is a blue Saturn S-series from the early 2000’s. The car’s front end has damage. Police are not sure why Burley was walking at the time.

Burley was facing charges in connection with a robbery that took place at The Whiskey Room in Williamsport on January 14th. He was free on $10,000 bail. According to what Burley told Magisterial District Judge Allen P. Page III at his preliminary arraignment on January 16th, he needed money so he could acquire pills, cocaine, or alcohol. Burley explained that for the past ten years he was “self-medicating” due to extreme pain caused by numerous surgeries. He also said he could not get additional pain medication.

Forensic Pathology Associates, which is located in Allentown, will conduct an autopsy on Friday, March 3rd. The PSP and the Lycoming County Coroner’s Office are still investigating.
