A man from Elmira, New York, is behind bars after a string of residential burglaries took place throughout Bradford County.

According to the Elmira Police Department, 37-year-old Jerry Mahlen Breese was taken into custody just prior to 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 24th. His arrest comes after there was a fugitive from justice warrant out on him.

The Pennsylvania State Police in Towanda say that the burglaries took place in West Burlington Township, Leroy, and Granville Township from December 12th to December 24th. Breese is a former resident of Gillett in Bradford County.

As of Saturday night, the Elmira Police Department was holding Breese. Police expect to extradite Breese to Bradford County.


In a separate case that was filed in the Court of Common Pleas of Bradford County in 2010, Breese pleaded guilty to felony 3rd degree Crim Tres-Enter Structure and misdemeanor 2nd degree Theft By Unlaw Taking-Movable Prop. The charges relate to an incident that occurred on September 15th, 2010. Breese was sentenced to 45 days in prison for the felony charge. He was also sentenced to 60 days to 11 months and 29 days in prison for the misdemanor charge. In addition, Breese was sentenced to 9 months on probation for the misdemeanor charge.

Cody J. Scepaniak of the Pennsylvania State Police in Towanda is listed as the arresting officer for Breese. The charges relate to an alleged incident that happened on December 24th, 2016.
