A Sayre man passed away after he was hit by a train in Waverly, New  York, on the evening of Monday, September 5th.

According to Tioga County Coroner Stewart Bennett, 22-year-old David Bidlack passed away. He was identified on Wednesday, September 7th. According to police, the accident happened at approximately 10:18 p.m. by River Road and the 220 overpass (I-86).  A cause of death has not yet been released, and an autopsy and toxicology report is being conducted.

A woman who was also at the train tracks had injuries that were not considered to be life-threatening. She was taken to Sayre’s Robert Packer Hospital to be treated for her injuries. According to police, she was likely walking with Bidlack. Police have not yet released her identity.

The train stayed on the tracks and it was moving again by 2:45 a.m. Police are continuing to look into the cause of the accident.

He was born on July 23, 1994 in Sayre, PA the son of David Bidlack and Darlene Greene.

David graduated from Sayre High School in 2013. He participated in the Vo-Tech Program in Towanda during high school, receiving his Certificate in Welding. While in school he participated in Football, Wrestling, Baseball, and Track and Field in the shotput and as a runner. He was employed with Dadant Bee Supply, Barton, NY. Recently, David had begun his own bee colony. David loved spending time with his family and friends. He enjoyed spending time outside, fishing, hunting, and kayaking on the river. He was involved with dirt bike racing and bicycles, and enjoyed skateboarding and snowboarding. He was an avid Pittsburgh Steeler fan.

He is predeceased by his maternal grandmother Charlene Greene, nephew Brock David Wright, paternal grandmother Lorraine Towner, paternal great-grandmother Charlotte Bidlack, and paternal great-grandfathers Guy Bidlack and Raymond Johnson.

David is survived by his loving mother and father Darlene Greene of Waverly, NY and David Bidlack of Sayre, PA, siblings and their spouses Jessica and Joe Lucas of Wellsburg, NY, Adrian and Tami Blow of Waverly, NY, Stacy Blow and Steven “Porky” Wright of Chemung, NY, brother Damion Bidlack of Waverly, NY, paternal grandparents Lucille “Pinky” Henson and Terry Doane of Waverly, NY and Art Bidlack of Athens, PA, several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. David is also survived by many close friends, and he will be missed by all those who knew and loved him.

In Honor of David’s Love of the Outdoors, a Celebration of Life Service will be held on Sunday, September 11, 2016 at 3pm at Round Top Park, Lower Level, Athens Township, PA. Those attending are invited to bring a dish to pass, a comfortable chair and remain following the service for a luncheon and a time of sharing your memories with the family.
