Prison, not Mental Health Center for convicted Murderer

On Monday President Judge Robert E. Dalton Jr. ruled that convicted murderer Matthew D. Priset should begin serving a life sentence in state prison, rather than in a secure mental health facility.

Priset was convicted of first-degree murder on June 27 for the stabbing death of Clinton Perry in the basement of the Perry home.

Priset waived his right to a jury trial, and Dalton found him “guilty but mentally ill” on the murder charge as well as counts of aggravated assault, burglary, theft, receiving stolen property and criminal trespass.
